January started with a bang.
Okay, okay, each year starts that way. If you too watched your city’s fireworks display on the telly or were lucky enough to be closer to the action overlooking the harbour (lucky you), then your’s also started with an orchestrated, pretty impressive, great big Bang.
And I gingerly stepped into a New Year of Omnicron, RATs and uncertainty, fully vaxed and boosted. Shot number three on the last day of 2021 prepared me for the dreaded lurgy with a minor setback on Day 1 of 2022, in the form of abnormal (for me) tiredness and a sore arm.
On Day 2, I bounced right back, ready to face the New Year. Ta-Da!
For most people, the New Year comes with a resolution to do something great or give up something bad. Not me. I don’t make resolutions. No point; I either break them or forget what I’d resolved to do. I am, however, determined to finish my current manuscript, which I am on track to do so, start editing my first manuscript waiting patiently and update this website. It’s a new one. Did you notice? Read on, my friends.
Writing
On January 3rd, my Furious Fiction entry, Whatever the Outcome, was published on Spillwords.com. It’s exciting and a lovely feeling to know someone else is reading my work.
Meanwhile, my Fantasy/Sci-fi manuscript is travelling along nicely. Total word count as of January 31st: 84347.

What’s New?
My website. Yes, this one. This site has been on the sidelines for about 18 months, patiently waiting for me to work on it. I finally started designing it with the help of my sister who knows how to do all the stuff related to websites. The process has been: I tell her what I want to do > she tells me how to do it > I do it. She even made up small how-to videos for me to follow.
It’s a work in progress. There are pages that need more work and I’m still on training wheels as I learn the ins and outs of the website.
Even though I’m doing the work, I know my sister is working harder to teach me.
.
During this process, I have learned how much potential my website has. I will make it work with a bit of imagination and know-how (thank you Sis). Some things I have learned – Feature Images, hello! I’ve seen where to put it, had no idea of its job. Now I do. Columns! Yes sirree, done it – no idea why I didn’t use that option before and Layered text over an image! You guessed correctly, my friend. I shake my head because it is so easy. It’s all about pressing buttons and knowing you’re not going to break the thing.
What will 2022 bring for you?
“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.”
~~ Neil Gaiman ~~
Stepping into a New Year brings with it all types of new possibilities if you allow it. Don’t be afraid to press buttons, try something new or even expand on something old.
Did you make a new resolution? If so, what was it? What’s new for you for 2022?
Stay safe.
