Want to know what I did?
I entered a short story competition to remove the Brain Block.
Furious Fiction is a short story competition run by the Australian Writers Centre. It is held on the first Friday of each season when you have 55 hours from 5 pm Friday to write no more than 500 words. I have mentioned Furious Fiction previously, in my 2021 post – My October.
I missed the opportunity to enter the competition in June; this time I was determined to enter. And I did it. I pushed the submit button at 8.54 am Sunday morning. Yes! …and the crowd goes wild.
For a couple of months, I’ve been having a hard time putting words onto the page and my poor WIP remained suspended in the ethereal cloud of the story’s battle, waiting…waiting…waiting…

So how did pressing the submit button unblock my Brain block?
It gave me something else to concentrate on. Well, I have a lot of other things other than writing I can concentrate on … sewing, reading, painting the house blah blah blah. But what I mean now, is I had a fresh story on which to focus.
As a result, there are more words down and the battle (in my story) is ongoing. Now, now, don’t get too excited, I haven’t written those two little words just yet, but I am a step closer. This new little distraction was just what I needed.
Stay safe everyone.
